Claybrook Mountain Lodge is in the middle of "big buck country". Somerset County boasts the whitetail record and even now, the largest deer in Maine are typically from this area.

The terrain ranges from hardwood ridges, to softwood swamps, to grown-up pasture.  Much of the land in this area is paper company land still open for public use. 

 We work hard to be sure our neighboring landowners' properties are treated with respect.  Prior to each hunting season, we contact owners to secure permission to hunt on adjoining property. 

We encourage guests to treat landowners with that same respect by making sure they have permission to hunt on other property as well.  In addition, we place a number of tree stands in promising areas.

We promote an atmosphere for serious hunters by making available expert Maine guides familiar with this area, game laws, and the proper care of game.
