Hunting Licenses

Note: Claybrook Mountain Lodge does not supply hunting licenses.  You may acquire licenses at Taylor Drug in Madison and at Pinkham's Elm Street Market in North Anson.  Licenses may also be purchased online at the IFW "MOSES" web page and your license will be delivered via email (see the above web page for requirements and instructions).

Visit the Maine State Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IFW) for complete details on seasons, rules and regulations, and licenses for resident, non-resident, and aliens.  In addition there are licenses for Juniors, bow hunters, and hunters using muzzle-loaders.  For an explanation of all hunting licenses, go to the IFW hunting web page.

Please note: there are important federal regulations for non-immigrant aliens bringing firearms into the US.  These are detailed at the IFW website.

The prices below are examples of non-resident license fees and are current as of Fall 2006.

  •  Big game hunting license (16 yrs & older): $102
  •  Small game license (16 yrs  & older) : $67 (3 consecutive days: $42)
  •  Moose permit (by lottery; see IFW Moose website)

In addition, to cover Bear hunting outside the regular firearm season on deer, an additional Bear Permit is required.
